Over the years I have found it was helpful to always keep experimenting while working on a series. This kept the work from becoming stale. As a result i always seem to have several series developing at one time. Currently I have three, Scapes, Reverb, and Camino de Plata/Oro.
When I experiment, I push my limits of my material and craft. There are the failures but also the rewards of discovering something new. I attribute my experimentations to my firs first materials class at Esmeralda, Mexico City. We were encouraged to experiment unlike my subsequent class in materials by Dr. Thompson at CSU at long Beach. Dr. Thompson always questioned and often discouraged these experiments of mine. But I never stopped pushing myself to explore. These explorations lead to new ideas and methodologies.
