In these paintings I have accentuated the preciousness and reflective qualities of metal. The colors used vary from translucent to opaque playing off the light the metal reflects. In contrast to the perfect surfaces of metal leaf I scratched through and scumbled the surface of the leaf, creating a sense of deterioration. Perhaps this is a remnant of the destruction and imperfection from my previous series, Entropy. The imperfection of the surface, the flaws and scratches add to the beauty of the piece. Gold and silver has long been coveted for its beauty and power, in which civilizations and nations have been destroyed and raised.
