Flora, Three Blooms
Flora, Three Blooms
Flora, Three Blooms, oil on canvas, 30 x 24”
Flora, a series I started during Covid, became a therapeutic escape that consumed my time during those seemingly endless days. Immersed in the process of glazing for long hours, I discovered solace and meaning in the vibrant and cheerful colors I carefully selected. They held within them both a sense of hope and a break from the monotony that came with the pandemic-induced isolation.
At the time, I had recently moved to Albuquerque, a city unfamiliar to me. Consequently, my days were filled with a peculiar form of seclusion, where interactions with others were limited and the outside world felt distant. In search of solace, my garden and the nearby park became my refuge, providing a connection to nature that nourished my spirit.
It was in this nurturing environment that my imagination ran wild, giving birth to a fanciful garden on my canvas. With each brushstroke, I aimed to capture the essence of a sanctuary untouched by the harsh reality of Albuquerque's relentless heat, which had proven to be the demise of many failed gardens. Through my floral paintings, I sought to transport myself and others to a serene oasis, where blossoms thrived and colors danced, defying the scorching sun.
Hence, my series of floral paintings served as a testament to resilience, offering a glimpse of vibrant beauty in the face of adversity. They became a visual reminder of hope and a source of inspiration during those challenging days when the world seemed bleak. As I immersed myself in this creative endeavor, I found comfort in the healing power of art, not only for myself but for others as well.
