L. Picos Clark Art
In the past few years, living in New Mexico has granted me the opportunity to embrace a more balanced and fulfilling life. I have come to realize the significance of not immersing myself solely in my artwork, realizing the importance of maintaining a healthy balance between my creative pursuits and the other aspects of my life. This newfound perspective has not only brought personal growth but has also led my artwork to take unexpected turns in subject matter. It is through the challenges of life that one's resilience is truly tested, and it is these very experiences that shape and mold us into who we are. Moreover, they remind us of our smallness in the grand scheme of life. The vastness of the ocean often serves as a constant reminder of this inherent smallness, but it has also permeated other aspects of my life, allowing me to learn the art of letting go and embracing the uncertainty that comes with it. Please take a moment to appreciate both my new and older works as you explore these galleries. Rest assured, as I proceed further on this journey and settle into this newfound equilibrium, I will continue to contribute additional pieces of art for your enjoyment.
Flora
Flora, My Bouquet, 24x24”, oil on canvas
In the last few years, since the covid era, I have had the deep yearning to immerse myself in the enchanting world of beauty. This alluring desire manifested itself in the most delicate and captivating form—the realm of flowers. Their elegance and gracefulness has never ceased to amaze me, as I found solace in the intricate tapestry of their petals, their vibrant hues, and their ephemeral existence. A flower, ever so transient, stood as an extraordinary symbol of both beauty and fragility, reminding me of the fleeting nature of life's joys. Even during our most trying and somber times, when darkness seemed impenetrable, the resplendence of a single blossom would emerge, offering a glimmer of hope, a reminder that amidst the chaos, beauty somehow perseveres.
Scapes
Scape 7, Ocean Rain, 40x30", oil on canvas
The Scapes series that evolved seamlessly following the the Entropy series. As an artist, I found myself gradually and purposefully embracing a looser and more liberated approach, allowing the paint to organically and autonomously dictate its own destiny on the canvas. It was a fascinating journey where colors effortlessly flowed and seamlessly mingled, forming breathtaking landscapes that seemed to whisper the beauty of both land and water simultaneously. And so, with each stroke of my brush and each vibrant hue that danced across the canvas, I bore witness to the birth of a new series that I aptly named Scapes.
