The colors chosen for these Asian chrysanthemum variations are deliberately vibrant and lively, capturing the essence of vitality and happiness that these flowers symbolize in China. It is fascinating to note that during the Lunar New Year celebration, the chrysanthemum petals are used to make sweet wine, and believed to possess the power to ward off evil and fortify the body against the harshness of cold weather. Among the many floral beauties, the chrysanthemum holds a special place in my heart not only because of their intricate nature and the layers of meaning it carries, but also because they were one of my mother’s favorites.
